Colorado Weather

St. Mark's Church at 3rd and A St. SE. It's an Episcopal church, also a gathering place and community center. St. Mark's has heart.

Summer in DC, so far at least, has been absolutely perfect; i.e. drier than usual, cooler than usual. With the exception of a sticky or hot day here or there, it has been absolutely civilized: hot enough to wear shorts and sandals, but not so hot that I want to stay indoors with the windows closed and the air conditioning switched on. Since Jake's death, I have needed a lot of outdoor time. Of course the weather doesn't shape itself around my needs, but I appreciate the synchronicity.

If you're interested in meteorological explanations, you could read this. Of course I have an alternate theory, in fact I'm certain I could come up with several alternate theories if you gave me a few minutes. My theories are not based on the science of meteorology.

Whatever the reasons, this seasonal fluke is a blessing. Thanks, Weather Gods! Thank you so much!!

I love your photo collages. They are great. I really enjoyed the addition of the runner far and near. Do you use Photoshop?

Lucky you, on the weather conditions! I patiently await El Nino in the autumn which should give us some rain. Maybe I need to head for DC!

We were just discussing this topic last night at the manor. It has been a very mild summer, as far as heat is concerned, here in Ohio, as well. And I am lovin' it!! We've enjoyed so many lovely mild evenings eating on the patio.

the sun is full and high in a cloudless sky this morning. it's warm. i love the cooler, sometimes clouded sometimes sunny weather of this summer. i've been able to wear summery clothes and walk and run and bike without suffering from the heat and i'm grateful for that.
the dangle about your alternate explanations for the weather grabbed me. tell do tell!!! have a peaceful day. steven

Blue skies, smiling at you :)

Peaches I do use photoshop. I expand the canvas on one of a set of pics, then copy and drag the other images, layering them on on top of the other. It's kind of like doing a puzzle. I enjoy it.

Cheryl I think there are some nice golf courses around here. Maybe you and G man should consider a visit!

Steve ... OK. I think that the force that surrounded the sudden and unexpected deaths of so many celebrities (which gets death into the group mind) had enough "suction" to draw the jet stream further south into the lower 48. See? Has nothing to do with weather patterns. Sometimes I am such a nut case, but as I always say, my theories cause no harm to anyone and keep me amused so ... why not spin them out?

Steven, not Steve. Sorry.

Wow, that photo of the runner is amazing. So glad the weather is conducive to being outside. I think it makes such a difference in how we feel. We have just started having a few really warm days. Most don't have air conditioning this high, so we just close up in the morning and open back up around five. The evenings almost always cool down. The nice thing about the really warm days is that the surface temp of the water near the shoreline warms up a bit. Nice for swimming.

Enjoy it while it lasts, my dear.

I love the pictures; I like what you did with the blog; I see you evolve and embrace the world around you, and all is good with the world.

Our weather has been outstanding too: sunny days after early morning marine mist. Veggies and people are doing great in these conditions.

hi reya, you know it's funny but i worked in a factory for ten years and in the factory everone had either a single syllable name (steve instead of steven) or they had "er" added at the end after the last syllable is dropped or with "er" simply tacked on (stever instead of steven). i'm good with both but steven feels a bit more complete! now you wanna talk about nut case ideas. here's one: i think that everything is made of dots of energy that are joined together by a single unifying force - let's call it love (the unconditional kind that shows up in this world as music for example). i think that those dots coalesce into forms like chairs and people because that is what our minds can manage. so everything is like a symbol for these coalescences which are actually something much deeper but we can't fully comprehend them. so fields of energy that integrate deaths, births, flowers, synchronicities of any kind on many different levels don't make me think the person who observes them is a "nut case" at all, it's a way of seeing. in much the same way as spirit guides, guardian angels, and so on are perceptual intermediaries between what we can amange with our minds and what we are almost able to manage with our minds.
so reya, call for the men with the butterfly nets, i think we have a winner!!!!! ha! have a lovely afternoon. steven

@Steven, you're not nuts, just a profound thinker.

The weather in Toronto has been more temperate of late, much to my relief. Where I was raised in western Canada is having hot days with high humidity, something totally unheard of before.

Once again, wonderful familiar sights. And great photography. Without realising it until after the fact, I have posted a print that shows the total eclipse that is to happen this week. Do you think I could be more than a cousin?!! What is your take on the doomsday forecast?

Here in NorthEast Indianer we may as well be living in Mississippi this time of year, but my oh my the humidity has been low and the nights cool! Don't look now, August is right around the corner! I have no weather theories...just like to complain when it's lousy.

Mild summer for the north, hotter than normal for the south. This year has made it into the top ten hottest summers. Last I saw it was #8.

So glad for you to be having nice weather.

I like your theories Steven, especially the unifying force called love.
Reya, where we are on Vancouver Island we've had the most amazing summer--hot and dry with cool nights. Usually it's cloudy and cool with only a few really warm days. We're all loving it but are afraid to even say anything about it in case the weather gods hear us and revert things to normal.

I am envious. We are having a hot streak. Hope it's over before you come this way. 108-110+ yee haw!

Steven I don't think you're a weirdo. Fascinating way of describing it! Wow.

Well... Colorado weather is not quite so nice! In truth, when we lived there we had 90 degree days with blistering sun that made air conditioning a must. The year before we moved we had a streak in CO of 30+days over 90. True, low humidity, but still very HOT. I think they too have gotten a break this year. One of the things I hated about CO was the high altitude sun thing. Even though in NJ 82 F might feel like 90 F CO, I choose NJ's weather. Colorado sun is just too strong for me anymore.

Like you, I've been loving this cool trend. Especially the nights. They say that from Boston to DC, this winter is going to be a cold and snowy one given our cool temps so far. We shall see!

Gotta be sunny or my mood sucks the life out of me. Where I live in Canada has long cruel winters so I make efforts to escape to sunnier and warmer worlds.
As I disembark the plane upon landing in St. Martin (early January) the sun god immediately heals my crippled spirit. By the time I reach my hotel, shower and move slowly to the bar by the water's edge I have been transformed. I have been healed... Hallelujah! And praise be to ocean waves, blue skies and summer breezes! And icy Coronas!
p.s.
You have a lot of followers of this blog. I think it is partly because your thoughts never really land, but remain floating almost within reach, but like the butterfly, escape to higher levels if a net approaches. I am a net :)

I have probably mentioned this before but I love your photo montages. I have no idea how you do it but they are so beautiful. Many thanks for such a thoughtful. I'm sure that the weather is on your side. Your dog came from nature and to nature it has gone so nature is chipping in now to make you feel better.

Greetings from London.
