A smooth solstice

Did anyone else do a whole lot of dreaming last night? I did, certainly. It's traditional to have magical dreams at midsummer, of course. In mine, I was set to go on a long cruise with an old lover, a violinist I was involved with when I lived in San Francisco. That was another life! It was so good to see him. He said, "Well, we're going to have plenty of time to get reaquainted." Oh yeah. Woke up smiling.

It's cloudy, moody and muggy in DC today, not a great day to walk around taking pics. My plan is to engage in domestic pursuits, though of course I'll get out there at some point to experience the day.

Sometimes the solstices feel very extreme to me - as perhaps they should, since the days don't get any longer than this, the nights can't get any shorter. This summer solstice feels calm and peaceful.

Or maybe it's my heart I'm talking about. Ya think?

I always dream a lot, always. But I don't always remember them very well. In fact, from last night, all I can remember is that I was in an unfamiliar bathroom washing my hands and the hot & cold faucets were backward. Ouch!

I'm glad you had such an excellent dream last night :)

I dreamed about an old lover too! He wanted to get married. We were close friends, then a couple, in high school. He's very wealthy now. A self made man. All I could think about when he asked me to marry him (in the dream) was how I could quit working & spend some of that money. I woke up smiling as well.

Was this about you getting reaquainted with love? Exciting!
Glad that icky weather waited until I got home (it's plenty icky enough here). I had the strangest day yesterday. Kept finding money (coins) all day, then got bumped from a flight and they gave me a $500 voucher so had time to go back into the city and meet my daughter for lunch before catching the later flight. So an interesting day but can't remember if the dreams followed suit. Perhaps this evening.

Hey, finding money in "real" life beats dreams any day if you ask me! Excellent portent.

So I'm cruisin' for love now, am I? Hmmm ... I'm good with that!

I had a dream in which an old man watched me take a long drink of water from a glass. When I finished I just glanced at him and said "...WHAT?" and that was pretty much the end of the dream.

Obviously I am puzzled by my own dreams!

What a cool dream! I'm puzzled but also always very entertained by my dreams. Sometimes they're awful but always very creative. At the solstices I tend to pay more attention, because the night is so short or long. Seems significant to me at least.

the sky this morning was mottled and blotchy - perfect for the first day of summer as the little ripply breaks between clouds let sunbursts through - hundreds of them dropping like the softest star beams on the trees and the houses and the river and the far-away hills!! "i'm right here" sounded my exasperated but hard-working sunny brother from wayyy out there as i biked across the top of the biggest hill in the town. "hey crow" i called to my big black-feathered buddy who sits on a lampost and crawks his love to me every morning "tell him i'm grateful". my love to you reya in this the summer of love. steven

I had a lovely day and a wonderful, introspective birthday. The weather is picture perfect here in southern Colorado - breezy, sunny, and not at all humid...bliss. I don't remember dreaming last night, but I didn't sleep very much. Happy summer!

And happiest birthday to you! I love Colorado - I was born in Denver, lived there until I was 5. In certain ways I never adjusted to the humidity.
