A Late Season Visit from the Snow Queen

Excuse me, but this is NOT what I ordered. I ordered temperatures in the 60's and 70's with a light breeze and plenty of sunshine.

The weather gods only laugh when I say things like this to them. They are not contrite, as a waiter in a restaurant might be, nor do they begrudgingly agree to make an exchange, like a salesperson at Macy's might. Nope. They just laugh.

Snow on cherry blossoms. It's so Japanese, isn't it? What I'm thinking is that there will be ample opportunities today, between clients, to capture very Hokusai-esque photos.

Yeah.

In the springtime struggle between seed pod and green chute, it appears that for this morning at least, the seed pod is in the dominant position. The snow is reminding me that I do not have control over the weather, the timing of the cherry bloom, whether or not the snow "burns" the blossoms, or just about anything else. I get to decide when to wash my hair, what to cook for dinner, that's about all.

Oh mighty Snow Queen, I am Reya, the small and meek. I surrender entirely to your vast power. So be it.

The truth is, if my friends weren't arriving this coming Tuesday, I would probably really get a kick out of the snow this morning. As it is, I can not quite get enthused. Instead, I'm aiming for acceptance. It's the best I can do. Que sera sera.

Obviously both pics here were taken a few days ago. And yeah, I altered the first pic to convey my sense of disbelief at the snow. I never do that but today I could not resist.

Just look at that glorious yellow forsythia in the far corner! We're at 25 degrees this morning, 25 degrees below normal for this time of year. I echo your clever little sign lol.

Yep, birdbath frozen solid, sunny but rudely cold. Love the altered sign!

Your sign says it all. My friend Bernie is down to five feet of snow in Alberta. No wonder Eric Clapton sang the blues about that place!!

It is such a nice tribute Washington has arranged for the Japanese this morning. It is Hokusai-esque. Pondering, I wonder if that beautiful soft snow has any nuclear fallout in it's flakes? Not enough to harm anyone they'll tell us.

reya,

totally sharing your sense of disbelief at the snow. our poor magnolia - in a full court press bloom - is currently coated in the stuff. such is menopausal march.

i love the sign.

Menopausal March?

OH YEAH.

The snow all melted today and the sun came out. I wouldn't call it warm, but it's still very pretty.

I never thought I'd ask the snow queen to scoot but I want the spring queen (or whatever queen is responsible for the sun) to make an extended appearance.

Ahaha! I had to look twice to see how you altered the photo! Funny!

I think the Cherry Blossom Queen will reign supreme over the next few days...of course, Pollyanna is my alter ego.

I'm pretty sure your friends are coming to see YOU, not the cherry blossoms, though that would be the icing on the cake.

Most of us, however, don't need icing to enjoy the party. ♥

I don't even like icing. Especially at this time of year, any mention of ice gets on my last nerve!
