Festivities

See the half moon in the sky?

Living alone is a self-indulgent luxury, it really is. Here in the chateau, my little nest, I live exactly as I want to. I don't have to negotiate with anyone about where to set the thermostat. (In the house on Tennessee Avenue we played thermostat wars: summer and winter, I turned the temp down, the housemates turned it up. Back and forth, back and forth.)

Here in my nest I am never forced to listen to TV. I don't own a TV - free at last from the commercials but especially from the talking heads my ex housemates are so fond of. I don't have to maneuver for position in the kitchen first thing in the morning when I Really Need My Coffee. I'm telling you, I'm spoiled rotten here.

The chateau is a refuge of cool peace and beauty, within which I never have to butt heads about any small domestic issue, not ever. Maybe that's why I've been much more generous in the realm of socializing this holiday season than I have been in the past. I've been eating, drinking, and making merry almost every night of the week, allowing myself to stretch far beyond my introverted nature as I interact like crazy with individuals and crowds of people. I know that when I come home, all will be exactly as I left it, that in the restorative quiet of the chateau, I'll have the luxury of integrating all the sensory input at my leisure.

I am very lucky and very happy. Loving the holidays this year. Cheers!

Oh yeah, it's the Matchbox bar. Again. Yep.

I've gotten so antisocial in my older age - if I have more than one thing on my calendar for a week I'm "swamped." :) I applaud your social nature this season - I think it's a Good Thing.

Thanks! Actually tonight I have NO PLANS and I am so looking forward to it. I'm reading "Life" by Keith Richards - what a hoot.

There will be no interaction tonight! Yeah!!

There is no negotiating about the thermostat in my house.
I'm in charge, end of story!
I'm not the extrovert I thought I was for so many years, and I am very comfortable saying that now, although I do break out every now and then.
Glad you are enjoying yourself Reya.

I couldn't live with roommates. I like my solitude too much. My husband has learned to live with that over the years. My younger daughter has just learned the luxury of living alone. It will be interesting to see if she ever wants to have roommates again.

Introverts going out on a Tuesday and having a good time just before the winter solstice -- awesome! And coming home to solitude must be even better. Sometimes (often) I really miss living alone.

I'm glad you are queen of your own chateau.

Oh yes! Living alone for the first time in my life is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I'm not as socially inclined as you are but I treasure my peace and quiet as much!

I'm a big fan of solitude. I don't think my relationship with my beloved would work as well if I didn't have the house to myself for most of the day everyday!

Speaking of being social, I've invited you to play a game of Scrabble on FB.

From one (albeit well-socialized) introvert to another, ya gotta know that you need space and time alone to manage all the sensory overload that comes with having people around. If you spend a lot of time alone, you can recharge enough to party.

Those folks in the matchbox- halos! Those two peeps with the glow heads must be following you around- they are on to you, REYA! They are wanting to move in with you, I bet...

reya - i really love my space and then when i melt into a social event it's high gear over the top flying energy of course! at the moment i'm in energy deficit because of school and the seasonal excitement in the kiddies which is such excellent energy but is also very very draining because they need me to be up there with them in the same way and i run on a different octane fuel to them!!!! but what a ride. steven
