"Oh. That's for the Star People."

Indeed those wispy cloud things look like Star People, don't they?

It was gorgeous yesterday, sunny and actually warm. Yes, WARM! It bet the temperature here on Capitol Hill reached 70 F. This lovely weather will not last at this time of year, but it was a tantalizing preview of the season to come.

I was out there for hours, walking around, thinking, praying, singing my therapeutic song ("I Will Be Light" by Matisyahu, the Hasidic reggae hip-hop singer). I was breathing, smiling, dancing around shamanically. Of course I was!

Eventually my wanderings lead me to the Washington Monument, one of my favorite places in DC. The title of this post refers to what a Peruvian shaman said when he saw the Monument for the first time. Oh yeah.

You can't imagine how happy I was to hang around for awhile at the base of that huge, elongated pyramid. The breeze was sweet, and there was only a smattering of tourists. The throngs won't arrive until the end of March. (No offense to the tourists, but it's very hard to share the nation's capital with the nation. It just is.)

I danced around, then put Reiki into the four corners of the base of the monument. Though unclear as to what that means or what effect it has, it's something I always do. It can't hurt, so why not?

Today is very warm and overcast. I wouldn't mind it at all if we got some rain; it has been such a dry winter in the District.

How glorious it was/is to reconnect with the world outside of the chateau. I felt yesterday in so many ways that I was back home. It has been a long, cold, rather discouraging winter. With much gratitude to the weather gods for this preview of spring. Shalom.

That little kid was as joyous as I was. So tiny compared to the monument. Ha. See the White House?

We're having a tantalizing bit of spring outside today, too. I hope it lasts until Sunday, so I can get out for a hike in it! OK if it's cold and miserable all during the workweek, but give me sun for the days off.
Shalom.

May the nice weather prevail!

I absolutely must get myself to DC. When do the tourists all leave?

They're gone from January through March, also not many around from late July until the holiday season. The weather here at those times is not the best, but it sure is nice to be able to wander around without having to contend with the throngs.

Beautiful post! Inspires me to spend some of my prayer/meditation time today outside... :)

When I was in high school our next-door neighbor had a old photo of himself in younger days standing on some scaffolding and touching the very tippy top of... the Washington Monument! I can't remember if he was part of building it or what, but I remember the photograph quite clearly.

How lovely to think of it as something for the star people!

The Peruvian shaman knew exactly what it was for.

They call it a monument to Washington, but ... where's the sculpture or bust of George? Where are the quotes engraved in stone? The plaques describing the life of our first president? Clearly it is not really a monument to a president.

We have about two to three feet of fresh snow. It's beautiful and cleansing. It also seems to have tamped down the solar winds (which seemed literal at about 100 mph earlier in the week.) I'm grateful.

I'm so glad you got your snow, Nancy!

Spring is in the air and those wisps of clouds do look like star people visiting. The sky looks so beautifully blue Reya!! Thank you for sharing. Peace and love.

Such a happy post! I envision you dancing like you did at the lake! So beautiful to witness.

Our weather won't last either but I don't care. It's heavenly...

Peace and love to you today!

Thanks Vicki! Yes of course you know exactly what I was doing. I might have been a bit more enthusiastic up at the monument than when we were at the lake, but the same idea. xx

Fabulous photos, Reya! Yes, they do look like star people...wow.

I loved hearing about you reconnecting with Mother Earth on your walk. It really, really makes a difference, doesn't it?

Looks like we turn back to winter in the midwest next week...what a precious break this has been!

Here, too, we're in for three very windy days followed by ... sigh ... a wintry mix. Dang, man.
