This math is beyond me.

If Gloom (G) = dark overcast, and Doom (D) = the bitter cold of a wet day in the winter, and Precipitation (P) includes every kind of cloud-borne water, then

G x (azaleas + iris + plush spring green) + P - D = What??

I can't describe today as a day of Gloom and Doom, though it's tempting to try to make those words fit. It's not a non-day because there are too many things blooming out there (non-days are, by their very nature, colorless). It's not a rainy day even though some water is falling from the sky. It's not exactly spitting rain, it's not exactly drizzling, it definitely isn't raining.

It's neither hot nor cold, neither dryish nor muggy, but colorful - wildly so. So. What is it? Don't ask me!

You picture of the iris brightened up an otherwise very dreary day weatherwise.

hm... ok. Try

Precipitation multiplied by Greenery minus Gloom plus Doom = Very Tolerable Day (as in silvery tinge on iris leaves).

Enjoy, Reya.

All that matters is having G & D add up to B(eauty). Pretty flower, for sure!

Reya,
How can you think of doom with those blooming Iris? The rich color is compellingly heart lifting... (can I say that?!)I think the "math mind" has to be given a rest in all of that floral beauty!

I think it equals a good day to snuggle up with a cup of tea and a good book, read the day away, and look out the window occasionally to soak in the colour of the flowers. In fact, it sounds like the day I have planned.

I just came in from gloom and doom with all the dogwoods and azaleas blasting away. It is a nasty day out...not going out again today. Milky tea in the afternoon.

grey days here make the pinks, reds, purples, yellows stand out like an engineered painting where everything non vibrant fades into a soft grey background to frame the bright spring life

love you so

just look at it as a 'nature-break'. things getting into places...motions sets in-tune...natures getting rejuvenated...people taking a breather...

it is not a 'gloom' nor a 'doom' day either. it is not of anything but an extended or additional period of time for everything to fall into places. call it a break to prepare for that rainy day...that beautiful spring day that we all love so much.

I know what you mean about colurless non-days. We had one here yesterday. The colours in that iris are so beautiful. You lifted my spirits this morning.

it sounds like a sitting next to the window, holding a hot cup of tea and dreaming of nature spirits kind of day.

A colorfully neutral day? A put on a poncho and take a walk day? A visit a museum and enjoy the color on the way day? A stay at home and dream of days you like better day?

It's warm and balmy here. It's a put on some shorts and go to the beach day. Wish you were here to enjoy it with us.

It's a sunny one over here, so I'll give it an eastern shove. You should have it by tomorrow!

I like that color.

It's a semi cloudy day. Not rainy though so we've been working in the yard.

It's spring!

It's an enjoy the heck out of whatever you end up doing day! Bright and balmy here and I'm off to a party. Best to you and Jake...

Analog man, I am still pouting.

Steve - that's the answer!

And just for the record, Doom was subtracted from the rest of the equation.

Also it rained hard after I went to work. It was a great day to give - and to receive - massage.

Okay, it's time to take a picture of the pink snow around all the trees! I would have done that today if I'd had my camera with me.

I'm so confused. How fast was the train moving---over my brain? The fact that you could even brain-child that floors me. It is amazing. Thank goodness for the pictures. Can someone make up a word with those letters? This was fun, thanks.

A parabola?

It is very rainy on the left coast today. Savoring...won't have many more of these coming our way.

It was a GREAT DAY to give and receive a massage! I came out of session and it was coming down by the bucket.

My rain soaked little front yard is a mixture of deep red azalea blooms, green from the weeded grass, and a smattering of yellow from the dying (from too much water) pansies. I'd say that all adds up to a colorful mess of soggy!

CocoDivaDog said...

Hey Girl,
Does Jake like to walk outside with you in the rain?
My young Coco absolutely HATES the rain. I even got her a little raincoat, but she refuses to go out.
BTW, looks like rain for the entire week up here in NYC.
ugh.

Reya Mellicker said...

Jake hates the rain. Mostly what he hates is the fact that the rain makes his ears wet. He HATES wet ears. But he'll do it - walk in the rain - when necessary.

It's beautiful and so is that iris. Sorry, never good at math.

It's a day for a good book, a warm blanket, a roaring fireplace and a hot cup of coffee.

That sounds like a satisfying day to me! Throw the math away and just enjoy it!
