It's good to be back

Do you believe in magic? I do. Maybe a better way to describe it is to say I believe in mystery, that there are things going on all around me, within my mind, heart, body and spirit that I will never - not EVER - be able to explain rationally. Though sometimes I find that truth a little (or a lot) scary, though many times I wish I could CONTROL all these uncontrollable mysteries, to be honest I have to admit that I love the mysterious synchronicities and juxtapositions, all the completely surprising events that are part of every life lived here on earth. If the world were not mysterious, wouldn't that be boring?

The magic I'm thinking about this morning is the mysterious synchronicity of writing about blogging (and other communities), waxing rhapsodic about the power of human connections through the network, as I did on Thursday. Within a few hours after I posted, blogger completely shut down. The post disappeared for awhile and, too, no one could post yesterday morning. The result of blogger's temporary collapse is that I was shown in no uncertain terms how it is not only the community of bloggers that's so dear to me, but the soul of the blogosphere that I like to rub shoulders with every day. By 'the soul of the blogosphere,' I mean the overarching energy and personality of this so-called virtual realm. Oversouls "hold" groups and communities in the same way that Brother Sun "holds" the solar system within his atmosphere. Oversouls are the ground substance, the matrix within which communities and groups operate. I was able to connect with many blog friends on FB yesterday, thank goodness, but I really missed Brother Blogger, the entity through which we communicate.

It's always a good idea to take a break from everything, even the good stuff. It was interesting to notice, during the day, how apt I was to write LOOOOOOOONNNNNNNG emails to friends. Julia Cameron is correct when she says that once you get in the flow of writing, it comes much more easily. I see that because I write almost every day, it has become rather hard to not write, even for one day. That was a great lesson.

I'm so glad I don't work for blogger. Can you imagine the atmosphere at the office yesterday? The stress must have been awful. It's rather incredible to think about how reliable blogger is, actually. Wow.

It was an interesting experience, but I'm glad the problem was resolved. I'm happy to be posting again today. I'll be happy to check in with my blog fellows as well, see what they have to say. Yeah. Shabbat shalom, y'all. Happy Saturday.

They really had me scared at first! I tried to look into my blog and was told, "Sorry, but your blog has been REMOVED". I looked at other blogs immediately, finding two of my pals also removed, others still there, but no comment was possible! Like a slow continuous eating-up of all our blogs, one after the other - can you IMAGINE! The next day I saw that my blog was back, but my latest post was gone! Like you, I felt terrible and left alone, and missed my bloggie pals and wanted to shout at someone. But then I saw the note that they APOLOGIZED and promised to heal it all.
Oh, how should we have lived on without the blogosphere?! Thank you, Blogger, for doing your best. I really appreciate you.

I do, too.

Love your description, as if a dragon tried to devour Brother Blogger, but he broke free of its grip. How mythic. I love it!

reya - as blogger's presence slowly softened into a read-only quasi existence, i wrote anyway. it's interesting to write without the format. there was a different kind of space available. it required a different discipline. i couldn't hear or feel my bloggy essence brothers and sisters and fathers and mothers and sons and daughters. it was entirely quiet. it was much more like talking about myself to myself. on my bike ride to school i laughed out loud as i replayed your post in my mind and i revelled in your prescience - again!! i wondered: "will people swim for shore now that the rowboat has lost both of its oars, or will they glide until a suitable piece of driftwood comes along to serve as a surrogate paddle? it looks like blogger airlifted two more paddles in. i too am amazed at the consistent strength of blogger given the volume of data they manage. i too am grateful to continue down the river. steven

taking a break is a good thing even if it is imposed by others. but I am so glad it's back. I'll probably take a longer break this weekend. Have trees to trim and a wren scroll to make.

Steven I really missed YOU yesterday. Other close blog kin are all on FB. We definitely chatted about the temporary collapse.

Blogging is a phenomena we still can't really quantify or explain. Really interesting to think about.

Once I got over the panic I enjoyed the break. I was meant to be writing a poem, but my muse (a sullen capricious teenager) was off sulking in a corner. It was good to not feel the pressure to lure her out with candy or something :)

It was a shock to me how important it was that I was not able to post or comment.

Yikes! Still thinking about it.

I decided that taking a break was good. I also thought about the poor blogger employees, feeling so glad that I wasn't one of them (like THAT would ever happen, nope!)

I am so happy to see everybody back again.

Oh Reya, you left a really nice, supportive comment regarding Reub. I'm glad that I read it before blogger went down and apparently lost it forever.

Who's that mysterious black figure riding the skies to deliver a comment yesterday, cackling past the "blogger dysfunction" time-zone.TeeHeheheee - by the wart on my nose I made it!
Quite a bit of wand-waving going on to make things disappear on the part of Brother Blogger Wizzard though!. Good all has been restored.
