Go to the Light

The year is quickening. The crocuses (croci?) are up above ground, as are the tips of the first bulb flowers, which in DC means daffodils. The sense of rising energy is intensifying every day. The birds are making a fairly serious racket in the mornings, I hear doves cooing, and Brother Sun (actually out and shining today) climbs higher and higher. There's a feeling of anticipation in the air, like the breeze that comes through the subway tunnel a few seconds before you can hear or see the train coming.

Oh yeah. Spring is right around the corner.

Also stirring are the ghosts of DC. One of the things I do (when it comes to me, I don't seek it out) is help people whose houses are haunted. I am not a ghost buster in any sense of the word. The process I use (created by ex-colleague Pomegranate Doyle - thanks, Pom!), helps the ghosts move from stuckness through the mysterious veil to a place where (apparently) they are reunited with their ancestors.

I usually think of fall as the most appropriate season to help the ghosts cross over, but in a way, spring, too is quite perfect. Spring cleaning is a time honored tradition amongst the living, as is springtime restlessness and a desire to break out of old ruts. It makes sense that the dead who are still hanging around our realm would abide by these rhythms.

Sometime in the next week or two I'll be working in a house in Alexandria and a house here on the Hill, helping the spirits move onwards and upwards. Go to the light is a literal reality at this time of year. I'm thinking that the expanding light as well as the rising energy might give these poor spirits a boost not available in autumn. Or not. We shall see.

I believe we have reached the point of no return here although our 80 something neighbor in the country thinks we will have one more really cold spell. He hadn't started his garden yet by last Monday.

Spring seems a good time to help lift those souls from their stuckness. go get 'em Reya.

Thanks, Ellen. It's a very gentle process. No drama, no heroics. It's very sweet.

Perfect photo pairing!

Fortunately we have no 'stuck' spirits here. I'm happy to say the only spirit I've encountered is only visiting occasionally to check on us.

I'm so thrilled that spring is on its way. Only 10 more days until the time change! I'm ready for the days to last a bit longer.

Now that makes two odd things that have happened to me this week, Reya.

I was thinking, "When I go to the library I should get "Out of Africa." And I mean...where did THAT idea come from? Zero triggers. The book wasn't there. I was up in the attic of the old lady's house late last night? What do I find..and I'm going to blog about this...a first edition perfect copy of Out of Africa, with her signature in it, dated 1938. Cue to Twilight Zone music..and me late at night in an attic in an empty house. Too, too weird. I felt "off" all night after that, which was why I was writing on your blog at 2 a.m.

So this morning, I was playing in a Keno/POGO room for a minute..lots of chatty people saying "I've got to get back to work and stop playing this," and as a joke...swear to God, Reya, I typed "Walk away from the Keno Carol Ann," and they said, "What does that mean?, so I explained, and they said, "I don't like scary movies because I am imaginative and read too much into them." Quote unquote, so I left that room and came and read your blog title and thought, (excuse my French,) but all I could think was "Holy SHIT!"

Man. Shaking head. What a week.

Some ghosts are encouraged to leave nicely when asked nicely- some are not at all spirits of people but are actually some other entity. My son''s friend is a camera man- he caught one on film twice in the same evening- one benevolent, just confused , the other a freaky shadow goblin thing.Oh creeepy! My new little flash light buddha will come in handy...I will torch it in your direction for a little boost in your ridding the house of confused spirits.

"The year is quickening." Lovely imagery!

So March! Let's hear it for the bulbs, which are only barely peeking out into the sun here.
But I digress--I just wanted to let you know I love your photos, as usual. I actually got sort of lost in, of all things, the bricks; spent some time thinking of warm sun pouring through the gate. And in the other photo, for a second I was thinking the "41" referred not to how many seconds the person has to get across the street, but maybe to how fast she was going (we have those little rader things that flash how fast you're going if you're over the speed limit--how do I know that?--well...).

Yes, t the light indeed.
Just heard 2 bad things
one from Janelle in Tanzania whose co-teacher was shot dead
and the other from Isabel whose brother was in a car wreck in Portugal ( on ventiltor)
Both men too young to suffer so.
I'm only telling you this because it is on my mind and maybe some people can think good thoughts for the one's soul and the other's body ( and soul)
and make the rest of us sit up and take notice of and enjoy what we have
end of sermon

have many ghost buster tales to tell you when we next meet

The manor ghosts have been restless the last two weeks.

It just occurred to me that maybe the recent earthquakes, esp. the one in Chile that allegedly changed (ever so slightly) the tilt of the earth towards the sun, woke up a bunch of spirits all at once. Wow.

Linda Sue, the Buddha flashlight will indeed help everything work much better, I have no doubt.

I can tell the difference between the confused and the malevolent. From what I hear from the two people who called me, thse are just run-of-the-mill confused spirits who need to be pointed in the right direction. If I feel something darker than that when I go to visit, well, that's someone else's job! I'm not good whatsoever at fighting demons. Oh no. I'll pass that job onto someone a lot more skilled and much braver than I am.

I am a friend to the ordinary dead. Works for me!

ok...this post is freaky enough, but Pomegranate Doyle!?
Wow. Good luck with the ghostbusting, love to hear how it all works out.

Tis true, there is a distinct difference between confused or unknowing spirits and malevolent beings. Seems like, lately, any ol' time is good for moving entities to the Light. Used to be, it was hard to find a gig but, now days...

Ronda you work so hard! Sometimes I worry about you.

That said, I wish you could go with me - it would be fun to help these lost souls find their way with you!

Despite all your snow you still beat us to spring! Well I guess it's only fair.

My mother was a ghost once, back in 1943; but she got over it.

Reya, I would love, LOve, LOVE to go with you! I just love that stuff:-)

I'd love some more ghost busting stories. I saw my first buds coming up today, alongside snowbanks still many feet high. Ah yes.
