s(NO)w

Tundra my ass. It's just another day of rain.

If I have one tiny little bitty complaint about the weather in the midatlantic, it's that we have a little more summer than I wish we did, and a lot less winter than I would prefer. By winter, I mean snow. I love snow, but we hardly ever get any. It snowed once last year. Once. C'mon, that isn't winter.

OK I know I have no commute, waterproof sneakers and other essential weather gear, and I actually like shoveling snow. Yes, I do, really. I love the quiet beauty, the clean air, the flakes themselves of course, and also the way that the children of Capitol Hill marshall their forces to create entire civilizations of snow beings almost as soon as the white stuff stops falling.

They promised us some snow today, even Lacochran's friend Rico promised at least an inch or two. It's dark enough out there to produce snow, but it isn't nearly cold enough. Dang, man. Global warming is a bitch.

This girl's whole outfit was amazing. Hello Kitty purse, pink jacket, and of course the bike was just the sweetest thing, too.

I can't wait for snow. But alas, I live in Atlanta, and it very rarely snows here. And if it does, it's gone in two hours. Today, they are predicting snow, but it's about 38 degrees and sunny - so no dice.

Spoke too soon! It is snowing. Not sticking but it's beautiful anyway. I love snow!!

Okay, Reya. It's a deal. When it starts snowing here, as it is threatening to do, I'll point in the general direction of Washington, D.C. and yell "Over there!" Not a snow person, nope. Palm trees. Sunshine.

Sandra we should trade places, eh?

Yes, we woke up to those big, fat slushy flakes. It was beautiful while it lasted. Of course, now it's just back to cold rain.
They were predicting 1-3 inches of accumulation, but it just hasn't been cold enough. Kind of a shame!

The first photo reminds me of a crooked smile, the fuschia bike sweet--would have loved to see the outfit and we have about an inch of fluffy stuff here in Dumfries and the birds are loving the new feeders and seed mix I put out yesterday and I'm still in my flannels...

When we moved to Ohio we were really excited to get more snow (although we got our share in the mountains of western NC). After about two years I was done. I like (well, really LOVE) it when it's coming down. I like how it looks on the trees & bushes. But I don't like driving in it, I don't like the cold all that much (this is changing as I get older - ha!) and I don't like having to scrape my car. Bah humbug!

You could change your title to s(NOW)if you were way out here in the suburbs, but you're probably happy you're not. I had a gig this morning in Damascus, MD which is in northern Montgomery County. It's a winter wonderland up there. A wet winter wonderland, but a winter wonderland all the same.

I love snow. I like watching it fall and the feel in the air, but most of all I like the quiet. Everything gets so quiet.

Hee Hee it is going to snow this afternoon here but now it is just cold visible rain.
Yes, I get all excited and jumping around when it snows for the first time.
At school I would let all the kids rush to the window because snow was so very important.

A good quote about life and so on:

"There's no pleasure on earth that's worth sacrificing for the sake of an extra five years in the geriatric ward of the Sunset Old People's Home, Weston-Super-Mare."

This was to do with your post from yesterday.
hugs.
We are expecting about 200 people this evening.
Am I mad? I like my people one at a time in solitude....)
Robert and 2 other artists and everyone we know in the city.

much love

hey reya! we had snow last week - it lasted for a few hours on the ground and that was it. i know my days on the bike are numbered though. it's cold enough to snow any time any moisture passes over so no doubt it'll drop. if it's deep enough then i hitch a ride into town. however, i love shovelling snow as well. i love it. give me an evening blizzard - dropping ten or twenty cms and i'll be out there six or seven times. i remember three years back we had hills on the side of our driveway that were over eight feet high! so reya - i wanna ride deep into the year in safety but after the eighteenth it can snow its ass off! there y'are. yours up in the true north strong and free. steven

Reya, it's snowing here and we have about two inches so far! It's gorgeous! Plus, we got our tree today, so the weather is just perfect! Hope yours is sticking!

It didn't stick here on Capitol Hill where it's always warmer than out in the 'burbs. But it was pretty while it lasted.

They say it will snow more tonight, but I am dubious. Oh well.
