Quickening

That's Tonka's butt. He is the big burly household dog.

Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood; aim for the chopping block. --Annie Dillard

Oh. My. God. I wrote a poem. Honestly I think this is my first poem ever, so you poets out there who know what you're doing, please forgive me for publishing this.

Holy cow!!

Sometimes poems happen.

Reya Mellicker said...

Yeah. It's really revealing. Not sure I'll leave this post up.

Couldn't bear to leave it up. The quote is good with the pic, though, yes?

Hello Reya!
Gently, here:
1. no need to apologize.
2. a poem is a poem is a poem ...
3. wishing u had left it up. (as i did not get to read it.) AND ..
4. a poem is a poem is a poem ...
5. courage ... dear one.

That said -- it is indeed your blog, to post what YOU want, and unpost what YOU want.

All's well.

Be gentle with yourself today.

Cheers and Peace

Hiya Reya,

I have a poet friend, who is a kind of second mother. She often sends me obscure books of all sorts and the latest was "Red Thread Gold Thread, the poet's voice," edited by Alan Cohen. The whole book is about why poets chose to become poets. I'm lovin it. I don't believe in bad poetry.
How can your soul song be any more or less 'important' than someone else's? It is simply what it is.

I'm going off to write, "Ode to Oatmeal" now. Ta ta.

I'm sorry you took the poem down; I would like to have read it. I've had second thoughts about posts before, too, though, so I understand completely. :)

I'll email the poem to all of you who are curious, but I just can't post it. It's too revealing, like post a pic of my underwear drawer.

I know. I am weird. Mea culpa!

Thanks for the advice about gentleness and peace, Fidos for Freedom. Great advice!

And while Tonka didn't make that hole, he could have. He is a tractor pull of a dog, huge, enthusiastic and powerful.

Hey, where's the poem?! Okay, I'll aim past the chopping block, but too bad your poem got the chop!

Tess Kincaid said...

...come on. Post it. I felt naked when I posted my first one. And look, now you can't get me to lay off already!

Darn. Didn't get it. Send it here:

DANG! Missed it!

Initially, I was kind of confused. First there is a very cute, but large dog butt, then a chopping block and then the chop suey poem.

Tonka really can carry a post all by himself though. He is that strong.

So I take it that no photo of your undie drawer is forth coming. Hoping for an e-mail or re-post.
xxoo

It is TOTALLY chop suey as a post!

awe...i'll bet it's really good; you have the great chasm of a mind of a poet, spilling over with poetics. Hope I get to read it.

Seems like you've whetted the appetites of your readers for some poetry, Reya. Can't you hear the audience cheering? Open the curtains and step on stage. We're waiting....

Barbara Martin said...

Reya, poetry speaks of an inner mind that needs to be released. There is no specific method for poetry, so whatever it was that you wrote I'm certain it was excellent. Everything else you post is.

Please don't be hard on yourself. Life is to be experienced and shared.

You write beautifully. I understand about revealing yourself. I feel that way sometimes in my photography and leave so much of it unseen by the world.

Congrats on writing your first poem :)

Reya,
Hi, Ray here, Norwegian Buhund Pup, here's the email to send your poem to: kim.cats.dogs@gmail.com
That's "Kim" ... she's my puppy raiser. :-)
By the way - I agree with Butternut Squash! ;-)
Wuuf!
Thanks!

Hi Reya,

I too was looking forward to reading your poem, I mean Tonka's butt is great, but a poem would have been fantastic.

Ronda has my e-mail address and I will ask her to forward it on to you. I really would like to read that poem that turned into chopsuey.

And could that hole be considered as a minor sinkhole. Sinkhole's scare me and I have nightmares about them. Seriously fearful nightmares.

I think I better go back and join you in thinking and seeing all the stars. I've been enjoying all the star posts.

God bless.

I want to read the poem too!
