Frankie say relax

Brother Sun has set and the sky is growing dark. Ahhh ... summer solstice, falling this year at the end of the longest week I have ever experienced, is finally OVER and done with. Snap.

Time heals all wounds. Maybe. What can't be healed by time can be at least lessened via the shaman's rattle. Vicki Noble, one of the most powerful (among many) teachers I've studied with, always said: when life gets you down, rattle. She is an amazing shaman; I took what she said seriously when I studied with her, and still remember much of what she taught me, even though it was so long ago.

So after days of winge-ing, whining, throwing myself down on my couch in tears (an arm thrown over my eyes ... just like in the movies), today I fished one of my small rattles out of a dusty box and .. well .. I rattled. I rattled my clients' energy fields, I rattled my own energy field. I rattled and danced around like a maniac between clients, shaking loose all the little knots and clumps of old patterns I would really like to leave behind once and for all.

No I didn't actually listen to Frankie Goes to Hollywood even though pop music from the eighties is so darn cute. But I'm feeling more relaxed anyway.

Thanks, Vicki, thanks Brother Sun. Thanks, Frankie. This week is over and I am grateful. Happy Solstice, y'all. Shalom.

...and yeah...whatever else has been going on with you, your photography has been "spot on." And thanks for sharing the rattle information. Seriously.

Thanks! My new camera can focus. It really helps! The old one was so decrepit.

Get that rattle out .. rattle your ass off. It changes something. Not everything, but some things shift. Go girl.

Wonderful idea- it's a bit like drumming,I think. Lovely image...the sun looked like that here in Puerto Rico, too...or rather the moon- I think I'm confused in this soltice!

Rattles, eh? I shall have to acquire a rattle, and rattle away my rattledness. What a great word, rattle.

So although I haven't been rattling, I did dig out the Baoding balls last evening and chime my heart out, using them as one might a rattle or bell, something I'd never tried before; furthermore, a thought of you flashed through my head before I commenced my ringing. True story!

I have to say that I felt better afterward. And I'm pleased to know you and your rattle worked some things out.

Vicki Noble grew up in Iowa? Well, I'll be. Never, in all my 23 years living in Iowa, did I ever meet a shaman, except for this one guy in college who claimed to be Jim Morrison's incarnation.

Thanks for the link! I'll have to track down one of her books.

Any particular kind of rattle? All the ones I have are brightly colored and made of teething friendly materials!

Glad you triumphed over the solstice! :)

You made it! :-)

I would not exactly call it a "triumph" over solstice. But I did survive it. Whewwwwieee.

Whitney did you know the reason it's traditional to give rattles to babies is because it keeps their souls connected with their bodies? Or so they say.

On the sofa, arm over your tear-filled eyes...very Southern Belle-ish.

I too feel a sense of relief that the solstice is almost over. For me it has been a time of restless energy without momentum, frustration, irritation.

Your comment about the cuteness of eighties pop music makes me want to go watch Music and Lyrics again.

I use Chinese chimes to set a new vibration in motion. It really clears the air.

I'm glad the solstice is over, too. Now we can see what the coming eclipse will bring.

Shake, rattle and roll to get that stuck energy out. Today was a great day to kick it. Happy solstice, Reya.
