Pennies from Heaven

Ordinarily I'm not a big fan of many days of rain, but I'm enjoying this big storm. Hard rain falling all day is so cinematic. It's a great backdrop for massage, something I'm doing a lot of this weekend, and too it's nice because last spring was so dry.

Also I'll admit it makes a difference that I don't have to walk 25 minutes to work this morning, but rather just kitty corner across the street to Quiet Waters. Hard rain is fun when there's a choice about whether to get out into it or stay nice and dry inside.

Who was it who said you can walk in the rain, or you can just get wet? Can't remember. All I know for certain is that the House Tour is over, I'm adjusting to my new workspace, and I am loving all this rain. Onwards & upwards indeed. Yeah!

Rainy days in the classroom with the children is such an amazing experience. We are all safe and busy together as the darkness stirs outside our windows. Rainy days help focus the class much better than sunny ones, that's for sure.

I'm glad to hear things are going well and a little jealous of your commute.

thank you for the music and art this morning

it is gorgeous here today 60 degrees this morning 71 this afternoon

and in KC the longest dry patch we've had was the first five days in January--otherwise rain at least every three days

I can't remember how far above normal that is and it means everything is so new green color
and so new green smell

  sweetest heart

I guess it's not surprising that rain is a big topic today. We are so lucky to have a place in which to stay warm and dry while the rain falls. I hadn't thought about "Pennies from Heaven" in a long time.

MAYBE I should have saved
Those leftover dreams
Funny
But here's that rainy day
Here's that rainy day
They told me about
And I laughed at the thought
That it might turn out this way
Where is that worn out wish
That I threw aside
After it brought my love so near
Funny how love becomes
A cold rainy day
Funny
That rainy day is here
It's funny
How love becomes
A cold rainy day
Funny
That rainy day is here

Hey man, take a look out the window 'n' see what's happenin'
Hey man, it's rainin'
It's rainin' outside man
Aw, don't worry 'bout that
Everything's gonna be everything
We'll get into somethin' real nice you know
Sit back and groove on a rainy day
Yeah
Yeah I see what you mean brother, lay back and groove.

Rainy day, dream away
Ah let the sun take a holiday
Flowers bathe an' ah see the children play
Lay back and groove on a rainy day.

Well I can see a bunch of wet creatures, look at them on the run
The carnival traffic noise it sings the tune splashing up 'n'
Even the ducks can groove rain bathin' in the park side pool
And I'm leanin' out my window sill diggin' ev'rything
And ah and you too.

Rainy day, rain all day
Ain't no use in gettin' uptight
Just let it groove its own way
Let it drain your worries away yeah
Lay back and groove on a rainy day hey
Lay back and dream on a rainy day

Nice poetry! Thank you. See? Hard rain really is cinematic.

Dennis thank you! He was a great human, musician, too. Now he's one of the Mighty Dead.

The rain is dwindling, down, which is OK by me. We've had enough. Still, it's been a very fine storm.

Dennis ate a Salmon sandwich once from a restaurant. It was called "the Louie Armstrong" all the sandwiches were named after musical people, but the Armstrong was tastiest.

if inquiring minds truly want to know according to the magnet on my fridge "some people walk in the rain...others just get wet..." the source of this quote is 'roger miller'

thanks for the song.

sweet commute!!

I've watched this vid over and over. My favorite parts:

the hankie.

the shot of the back of his head right before the trumpet solo.

strange to imagine how long ago this performance took place.
