Blog Poetry Slam

From Deborah Oak's blog

Let poetry bless the blogosphere once again!

WHAT: A Bloggers (Silent) Poetry Reading

WHEN: Anytime February 2, 2008

WHERE: Your blog

WHY: To celebrate the Feast of Brigid, aka Groundhog Day

HOW: Select a poem you like - by a favorite poet or one of your own - to post February 2nd.

RSVP: If you plan to publish, feel free to leave a comment and link on my blog. Last year when the call went out there was more poetry in cyberspace than I could keep track of. So, link to whoever you hear about this from and a mighty web of poetry will be spun.

Feel free to pass this invitation on to any and all bloggers.

Thank you, Reya, for beginning what is now an annual event.

You're welcome, Oak. I'm thrilled this event has been so popular. Special thanks go the knitters. They're the people who made this event work so well the first year. Poetry on Feb. 2? YES. Count on it.

Jane and Rebecca - didn't I "meet" you two because of the first blog poetry event? I know I met you, Jane, through the poetry.

Ched, the pic is the hood of a silver car. The wave is where the hood slopes upwards. Forget what kind of car it was.

Thank you!

I love mid-winter poetry. I stayed up way too late last night looking through my old and new poetry books. I always seem to come back to Billy Collins. I'll post something on Feb. 2. Meanwhile I put out the announcement on my Blog.

I like Billy Collins a lot, but plan to post something by a poet called anonymous.

Thanks for starting the annual Groundhog Day poetry slam! This is my third year, posting the same poem each year which seems to speak to me more and more every year. I have to tell you that I love your photos!!

Hush, there is nothing poetic about a wheeled vehicle.

The iambic 'foot' comes from the walking 'feet' imitating the heart beat.

I am unhappy to post this really (but I must be honest to my own poetic soul) because I take Reya 'a beautiful city, a powerful city, also geologically as well as politically: a swamp' to be intelligent in all other aspects.

This is my third year, too! I'll be posting a poem to my blog later today.
