Lifequakes

Come in. Make yourself at home. Oh! Yeah, there is still a massive tower of boxes, just out of sight in this picture. I am far from settled! But I'm in.

In the past, when I used the word "blog" as a verb, in my mind it was all about writing and publishing, but these last few days during which I haven't read a single blog (noun), I've discovered that for me at least, blogging is as much about reading as writing. I feel completely disoriented, out of touch.

Of course it isn't just here that my rhythms have been completely disrupted. Nope. Every one of my beloved ruts and routines has been given a good shake-up. I do mean GOOD. According to the cosmology of Reya, it's important to stir it up every now and then. In fact, in Chinese medicine it is believed that change is so intrinsic that if everything remains stable, disease will result. Well, considering how completely crazy this summer has been in terms of surprises, unexpected changes and all manner of events that I could never have imagined, should I be surprised that we experienced an earthquake here in DC this morning?

I woke up briefly at 5:00 a.m. so I must have, at some level felt it, but it didn't register; I had other things on my mind. I have to laugh. For heaven's sake, what next?

I'm going to have some time tomorrow afternoon to get around and catch up with you all. I am SO looking forward to it!

Things seem to really be taking shape Reya - it looks lovely so far. Earthquake? I wasn't aware you got them in there. Amazing.

An earthquake in D.C. since it is all swamp wouldn't it just jiggle and wobble a little and then everything softly fall in a gentle smoosh? Cozy place- very warm and welcoming. I hope it stays upright!

This must be synchronicity working because this afternoon I was wondering what kind of colour scheme you had in your new place. Viola! You post this lovely photo of your living room with beautiful greens and yellows.

Once you have your furniture in and most of the pictures on the wall, then the unpacking boxes comes. I still have a couple of pictures to put on a wall, even though I moved in mid-April.

Quake? Maybe its a residual from the one north of Ottawa on June 23. Although, come to think of it, I read a blurb about the Cardinal Climax occurring on July 31st: Mars and Saturn, which would have powerful effects upon the world. Of course, that could mean anything.

We have eclipses in star signs to change the status quo of our stagnant lives, to push us to grow and encounter challenges.

It's god to meet you Reya. I'm here through Steven's blog. I've seen your name in comments her and there from time to time and wondered about the person behind the name.

Now at last I find you and discover we are the same age. That has to count for something even if we live on opposite sides of the world.

I look forward to reading more of your blog. I'm intrigued by all the changes and movement you describe and photograph so beautifully.

Your new home looks so cute!

How 'bout that earthquake?? I thought it was just us in the West that had to worry about those.

I haven't had much time to read blogs or post anything, but when I saw the title of this one I just had to click, because it so aptly names what is happening with me right now. I feel like I have been turned upside and down and shaken out. No literal earthquake here, but still. As Ted, of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, once said, "Strange things are afoot."

Your new place looks so, I don't know, clear, I guess. I do feel at home imaging myself visiting you there.

Love the reflection.

Are you sure you were not in California due to all the earthquakes we have been having here? Two good sized ones in three weeks. I sure hope that San Andreas is not awakening, otherwise I will need to run to the other side. Well I mean drive really fast, since I am on the side that would sink into the ocean it kinda sucks because I probably would not make it.

New place looks great so far. I missed the reflection too, and had to go back to see it. Yup it was really cool and maybe you should do it with every pic you take of the new place and have us find it. That would be fun.

God bless.

It appears you didn't use the van. How did you move all the boxes?

Reya Mellicker said...

My ex housemate's car, the cars of others. I am going to use the van on Wednesday to move my ex-bed and ex-chest of drawers. Marian have you been over here yet? You MUST come perch, asap!!

I love the very relaxing color combination of you couch and pillows.

Isn't is great to have your "ruts and routines" shaken up a bit? When I moved a few months ago, several bad habits of mine just seemed to suddenly magically disappear. It was disorienting, but in a good way. It seems like your move is going that way as well.

Wow -- the astrologer was right when she said there was tumultuous energy afoot, both in terms of change and earthquake energy. I lived in the D.C. area for 10 years and never felt tremors (well, at least ones that weren't inspired by passion).

An earthquake in DC! How strange, and how emblematic of your last week or so. What a great apartment you have found for yourself, and so fun to see you there in the corner capturing the picture.
