Summer's Fun in Washington DC

What a great summer we're having. OK, yeah, it's humid, but it hasn't been too hot at all. We're having lots of rain, too, a very good thing. Not too much, though. And thunderstorms! I love thunderstorms, the drama, the quickly changing light and dramatic cloud formations. The land is lush and green but not soggy, everything is blooming, people are smiling.

I feel so sad for the waterlogged landscapes of the midwest and the non-stop fires in the west. I'm grateful beyond belief for this particular summer here in the midatlanatic.

Summer 2007 was awful for me in every way, internally and externally. Summer 2008? Oh yeah!!

When I hear all the extremes in other parts of the country and the world, I always wondered why we are spared from the earthquakes, tsunami, mudslides, wildfires, floods, (mostly) droughts, and other undesirable natural phenomena. Is it because we are burdened instead with the job of government and its associated casualties?

Highs in the 80's low humidity--until yesterday--usually I'm half melted by now.

Last year's summer beat down on me until mid-September.

This year the gratitude flows through me morning, noon and night.

Weather as predictive of me (a thought from my philosophical sista, Reya)

Love you so much,

I love the absence of crippling heat, but I'm not crazy about all this dampness. Still, as you said, we've got it easy compared to many others, and for that I'm grateful.

Barbara you made me lol.

Summer here is almost always HORRIBLE. I'm just cruisin' through this great summer.

I'm hoping for an afternoon rain storm--Then I won't have to water the parched garden and everything will cool down. steam rising from the mulch is always a sign that rain was needed. The birds appreciate the rains too.

last summer we had extreme drought and unreal heat until late October. That was not so great. Let mother nature give us regular rain this summer.

Spoke too soon. It's a steambath out there today. Oh well.

Dennis has been a little bit depressed about the floods in the midwest and the Big Sur fire --all those sad images on the television are upsetting. Brother Flood and Brother Brushfire are two boys I'd never want to see close up. It;s sad because even when it's over things are never the same, there is residue.
Dennis is grateful for whatever the weather is, as long as it isn't displacing or killing people. Very powerful, that's for sure.

Dennis I am with you 100% percent.

Mother Nature is all powerful.
