I know February is supposed to be an awful month. It never has been for me. Part of that has to do with my birthday, probably. I share my birth month with a bunch of my nearests and dearests. That probably helps, too.

Also I am very fond of the midwinter holiday, called by many names including Imbolc, Candlemas and Groundhog Day. It is a time of both hope and fear. The light is returning but it's still winter. I like imagining the ancestors taking heart from the increased light, and yet no doubt wondering if the food stored in the cellar would last until the spring planting. I experience the ancient emotions even though life right here and now in 21st century U.S.A. is no longer attached to the agricultural cycle.

February is also auspicious for me because thirty-three years ago today, the little sedan I was driving was hit by a Southern Pacific freight train. As a result of that collision, I found my way into being treated by alternative healers. It's a long story that I might write up for the chateau seven blog. Suffice it to say here: February is a big ole month for me.

Bowing reverently, I welcome February. Shalom.

Well now you know my heart sings on the 13th and I will be with Meg on her birthday this year - we will have a toast to you and send it across the country. Still tickles me you two share a birthday.
It is a wonderful month here in Arizona, possibly our nicest weather of the year.
I would love to read your story of you and the train and all the things is carried into your life.

Jeanette your heart SHOULD sing. Your daughter is truly awesome in every way possible. As are you.

Angela, that crash changed my whole life. My spirit guides believe that collisions, both spiritual and physical, open portals between realities. They offer opportunities. That collision changed everything - over time.

I'm a February Aquarian too. I grew up in England and the weather was always awful on my birthday. Then I moved to Africa where it was always too hot on my birthday. Now I'm in Australia and (this year only, I hope) it's too wet on my birthday! I can't win!

You were hit by a TRAIN?! I can't believe I never heard this story! Please, do tell!

February is a little tiresome (I think) because it's the last true month of winter, and by this time usually everyone is sick of the cold and the gloom. I was a little worried about what February in England would be like -- but today is bright and sunny, and I've found I can be out and about as much as usual!
