This morning I'm flipping the switch on the time machine from Lost Loves to March 5, 2009, setting my intention to arrive in the present moment no later than 9:45 a.m. since today is my first day in the office on Farragut Square.
I'll be busy with clients, but not so busy that I won't have some time to walk around, get acquainted with the neighborhood. I'm very excited. For those who don't know, Farragut Square is as downtown as you can get in Washington DC. The building in which I'll be working is on K Street, the infamous location of countless richly appointed offices in which lobbyists and other power mongers do their mongering. Is that a verb? In terms of atmosphere, it couldn't be less like the vibe on Capitol Hill, my small, friendly village. Cool, eh? I think so.
Reflecting on the past is a good thing, absolutely necessary in order to heal, and always lots of fun, too. As much fun, at least for me, is bringing all of myself into the here and now, in order to find out what's unfolding right in front of my face. Onwards & upwards? Oh yeah!
See the moon? Why is it blue?

ReplyDeleteI grew up in a house on K Street, in a small town in Oklahoma... Such fond memories from there...learning to ride my bike, singing on my front porch from a recipe book and having neighbors clap for me as they piled in their car (which made me get really embarrassed!), playing in my favorite backyard ever where my imagination would run wild, loving Queen's hit song "Another One Bites the Dust" while I lived there... ahhh to dream of K Street!

Monger is a wonderful verb. I wish we used it more often, but there are so many words to choose from it's hard to get them all in motion.

i'll have to ask my school teacher wife if she has passed through Farragut Square in her travels with students; sounds a bit off the traveled path, nice. This reflection shot is one of your best..what a talented eye ... and i think the moon is blue because it is lonely: so far away, alone, and drifting further every year...

ReplyDeleteIntangible, yes of course it makes sense. I didn't feel like anyone I saw from the window in my office was a buttoned down rodent. People looked busy, that's all.
Nice flip of the switch into present time. Curious to hear about your new work world. And the moon got to be blue because that was the color of crayon God(dess) had in the backpack that day.

The blue in that picture is so beautiful. Mr. Moon knew that it was such a beautiful color that he wanted to join in too. It was such a nice picture. Kinda a yen and yang with the two pictures.

ReplyDeleteSmoke and dust particles to be literal, but it's most often used to describe the "oddity" of two full moons in one month; hence "Once in a blue moon, (meaning twice.) Our next blue moon is December 31, 2009.
