ReplyDeleteVery cool. Every day in every way, you're my hero. Have you read John Berger's 1977 book, "Ways of Seeing?" I think the BBC did a series on it. It must have made an impact, because I read it 26 years ago.

Your thoughts always keep hanging on with me, Reya. Yes, I have photos of some ancestors of mine, and I also like to look closely at other people`s, even at the photo albums of strangers. It is always interesting to see what other people thought worth taking.

Was funny, went to dinner with hubby tonight and was finding the mirror thing. I kept trying to not do it and would change the placement of my hand and then hubby would follow or if I stopped thinking about it, I followed.

And now I MUST know...how old were you when you got your very first camera?
I was just 11, and it was a cheap plastic thing I got in the mail.
Oh but I treasured it!
My father was a great photographer so we had access to cameras from the time I was tiny.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother had an old box camera with a pinhole. I remember it distinctly, even the way it smelled.
I remember my first brownie camera and of course my first polaroid. It was the kind with the telescoping front. You had to pull the film out, wait for 3 minutes, then peel off the back and coat the pic with some goo.
I had many 35mm cameras as well over the years. It was Pat of DCBlogs who insisted I buy a digital camera a few years ago.
And yes, Bee you or anyone feel free to use any piece of the essay you like. It's out in the public domain now, so no longer 'belongs' to me.
